Over the past month we have been focusing our fundraising efforts in support of a local Ottawa woman named Kat Paradis-Blais. We had a number of initiatives including a bake sale, raffle, and our Dine for a Cause dinner event. The funds raised will be given to Kat and Josh will be used to offset some of the financial hardship they are experiencing: to help them with medical costs and day-to-day expenses while Kat is recovering from her second back surgery. During our campaign, Kat was able to share her story with MetroNews. Click here to read her story.
We partnered with Barb Mireault of Coasters Seafood Grill in the Byward Market for this event. We met with her in early March and she graciously agreed to partner with us for this initiative. We want to thank Barb and her staff for being so supportive and for helping us promote the event on their social media channels, and also for working with their reps for some amazing raffle prizes.
Guests arrived to enjoy entertainment provided by Cape Breton fiddler, Ernie Fraser, accompanied by Marietta Fraser on piano.
We had a great turnout for our event last night with over 30 people purchasing tickets for our Dine for a cause dinner.
The dinner portion of the evening consisted of a three-course meal.
The décor was extra bright and cheery thanks to local florist and business owner Maggie Freitas of Flowers by Maggie. Maggie provided the centrepieces for our event and a guest from each table was able to take the arrangement home at the end of the night.
We also had support from many local businesses that donated towards our raffle including:
- Backdrop
- Beau’s
- Bicycle Craft Brewery
- Big D’s Dog House
- Escape Manor
- Gallo Wines
- Heart and Crown
- Lowertown Brewery
- Luna Crepes and Cafe
- Main Street Cellar
- National Arts Centre
- Peller Estates Winery
- Pondview Winery
- Rainbow Foods
- Steam Whistle
- Wellington Gastro Pub
- Zolas
