Calling all bacon lovers in Ottawa, here is an event for you! Coming up this weekend, celebrate all things bacon at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum’s Baconpalooza! Ottawa Foodie Girlz will be attending the VIP Kickoff Reception event this Friday night September 11 from 7 pm – 11 pm. Each VIP ticket includes: live music, sample a menu of bacon-infused small bites prepared by Chef Michael Blackie of NeXT, and taste craft brews and bacon-inspired cocktails offered by ClockTower brewery. Baconpalooza is taking place Saturday, September 12 from 9 am to 11 pm, at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum. This first time event, will be a day of fun for bacon enthusiasts of all ages, and feature some of the city’s hottest food trucks, beer and cocktail tents, cooking with bacon demonstrations and live entertainment by Ottawa-based band Monkey Junk! As well, there will be a free bacon breakfast (while supplies last) courtesy of the Ottawa Marriott, and a bacon themed market will be open from 10 am to 5 pm where you can purchase unique bacon-inspired goodies – from sweets to soaps! From 11:30 am to 4 pm there will be sizzling' cooking demonstrations by Lynn Crawford and Lora Kirk from the food network, local chefs Michael Blackie (NeXT), Mike Mckenzie (Seed to Sausage), Steph the Grilling Gourmet®, and Shane Kennedy from the Works.
