Last post of 2014... We’ve had a great 2014! Although we only started Ottawa Foodie Girlz at the end of August, we've accomplished so much. In just over four months, we have more than 500 followers on Twitter and are getting more followers every day on Facebook and Instagram. We had our first event, which was very successful and rewarding; knowing we could help Phoebe and her family is the best feeling. We wish her and her family all the best and hope to see them home soon. We’re amazed and pleased that people are starting to recognize the Foodie Girlz about town, at restaurants, shops, and markets! Dine for a Cause in support of Phoebe Rose Doull-Hoffman

The Doull-Hoffmans Our first event When we started Ottawa Foodie Girlz back in August, I knew I wanted the first event to be for Phoebe Rose Doull-Hoffman. Phoebe is a little girl from Ottawa who has been fighting infant leukemia since 2010, at 10 weeks old. She and her family have a large network of supporters in Ottawa and beyond. You may also recognize her as one of CTV Ottawa’s Amazing People. I went to high school with her mom, Jenny, and started following her blog shortly after Phoebe was diagnosed. Over the last four years, I’ve read about treatments, tests, hard conversations, and diagnoses, but also a lot of hope, smiles, and love. Phoebe is an amazing little girl...

The story behind the Foodie Girlz

How did this all start? This all started out of my love for three things: Event planning: I’ve always loved event planning, but never took the plunge to get any formal training in it. Instead, I get a lot of joy out of planning events for myself and for others around me. I’ve been known to plan everything from small-scale things like dinner parties to larger-scale fundraising initiatives. About a year ago, I started organizing monthly ladies’ nights at my day job.
